Where we work

Your local Milngavie fencing team

Milngavie isn't a town we drive out to. It's where we're based, so most of what we do sits within a few miles of the Cross, and we're not adding travel onto your price to get here.

The gardens round here

Milngavie isn't one type of house, and that changes a fencing job more than people expect. The stone villas up by Tannoch Loch tend to have long established boundaries, with mature hedging and roots that have had the best part of a century to spread. The bungalows and semis through South Mains and Clober usually mean a shared boundary, so the fence between you and next door is a conversation with the neighbour before it's a quote. Fairways and the newer estates are mostly straight runs and quicker work, though the ground can still catch you out.

We dig and concrete every post rather than knocking them in. On a sheltered back garden that's belt and braces. On the plots that back onto open ground towards Mugdock and the reservoirs, where the wind comes across with nothing to slow it down, it's the difference between a fence that stands and a fence you're phoning somebody about in three winters.

What we fit in Milngavie

Close-board and feather-edge where you want height and privacy. Venetian and slatted where the garden's overlooked but you'd rather not feel boxed in. Ranch fencing and a matching gate round the front. Composite for the folk who've treated a timber fence twice and decided never again. Decking as well, timber and composite, usually off the back door where the ground starts to drop away.

Jobs here run from one short run for a few hundred pounds up to a full garden boundary in the thousands. We'll tell you straight which one you're looking at before you commit to anything.

You get a fixed written price before we start, and it doesn't budge once it's agreed.

No half-finished jobs

We don't pack up until it's done right, the old fence is gone, and your garden's left clean and tidy.

Five-star on Facebook and MyJobQuote too, and 10/10 on Checkatrade.

★★★★★

“Just had a great fencing job completed by the Alba Boundaries team and delighted with the end result, in spite of the rubbish weather. Conner the owner was professional and responsive from first contact right through to the finished fence, which was exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t give Alba Boundaries a stronger recommendation for anyone needing a new fence, hence the 5-star rating.”

“Conner listened to what I was looking for and executed it perfectly. He showed up when he said he would, built a strong, great-looking fence that was affordable without all the nonsense I’ve had dealing with some other tradesmen. Would absolutely use again and recommend. Thank you!”

Questions from Milngavie homeowners

Which parts of Milngavie do you cover?
All of it. Clober, South Mains, Craigton, Dougalston, Barloch, Tannoch, the town centre, and out past Mugdock and Baldernock. If you're in a G62 postcode, we're on your doorstep.
Do you charge extra to come out to Milngavie?
No. We're based here, so there's no travel added onto your price.
Our fence keeps blowing over. What's going wrong?
Nearly always the posts. If they've been knocked into soft ground instead of dug and concreted, the first proper gale finds them out. We dig every post and set it in concrete, and on an exposed plot we'll talk you through post spacing and whether you want a solid close-board panel or something the wind can pass through.
There's a big hedge and tree roots along the boundary. Is that a problem?
It's normal round here and we're used to it. We can take hedging out and get rid of it, and we work round roots and stumps rather than pretending they aren't there. It goes on your quote up front, so there's no surprise on the day.
My neighbour wants to split the cost of a shared boundary. Can you do that?
Yes, and we do it fairly often in Milngavie. We quote the job once, you and your neighbour agree how it's split, and we invoice accordingly. It nearly always works out cheaper for the pair of you than two separate fences.
Do you take the old fence away?
Yes. Removing the old fence and getting rid of it is included, there's no separate skip charge.
Timber or composite?
Timber is the cheaper start and it looks the part, but it wants treating every couple of years. Composite costs more up front and then you leave it alone. If you've had a timber fence before and got fed up maintaining it, composite is usually the answer.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes, 5 years on every installation.
